It’s that time of the year again – the legislative session! For 2019, our state lawmakers have again introduced dozens of measures that could impact many different areas of labor and employment law in Hawaii. Specifically, some of these proposals could amend current laws or even add new laws on the following topics:
- Minimum Wage
- Social Media Privacy
- Predictive Work Schedules
- Nondisclosure Agreements
- Hawaii Family Leave
- Employment Discrimination
- Equal Pay and Pay Transparency
- Workers’ Compensation
Many of these measures have already been heard by their respective subject-matters committees. Some of those bills will likely pass the first crossover deadline, while others may not fare as well. We’ll have a better idea of which measures will have some traction this session in a couple of weeks.
You can view a list of all the bills I am following this session here: 2019 Employment Bills Introduced.
